Company History

Hodell Chain Company 1886

Hodell-Natco Industries’ history of quality and reliability dates back to the late 1800s when two, respected Cleveland, Ohio-based firms, Hodell Chain and National Screw and Tack formed the National Screw & Manufacturing Company. National Screw produced standard and specialty fasteners, while its affiliate, Hodell Chain was known for manufacturing welded and weldless chain for industrial and hardware use.

In 1976, Natco Fasteners was established by Monogram Industries, a Los Angeles-based conglomerate, as a warehousing division to distribute fasteners for National Screw & Manufacturing. A year later, Natco Fasteners pursued an expansion plan and purchased Southwest Bolt & Nut Company, of St. Louis. Subsequently, Natco Fasteners became a full-line distributor of standard and specialty fasteners.

In 1983 and 1984, a Cleveland-based investment group purchased Hodell Chain and Natco Fasteners, respectively. With both chain and fastener companies under common ownership and serving common markets, it made sense to unite them under a single name, Hodell-Natco Industries, Inc.

Over the past 25 years, Hodell-Natco Industries has grown both organically and through strategic acquisitions. Every decision to acquire new business was made with extreme precision to ensure that the outcome made good business sense and added value to their customers. With each acquisition, customers gained access to a more diversified product line and better geographic distribution capabilities. Now, with six distribution facilities, Hodell-Natco Industries can efficiently serve its local clientele as well as larger customers who operate in multiple North American markets.

Steadily throughout the past 10 years, the company has added considerable industry experience and leadership talent to form a dedicated team. When doing business with Hodell-Natco, customers benefit from a consistency that comes from their many years of professional experience. A strategic succession plan has been implemented when hiring key management to ensure continuity well into the future.

Hodell-Natco has flourished over the past years by taking the time to understand their customers’ needs and providing customized and cost-effective solutions. In the future, they plan to grow by continuing to exceed customer expectations and by expansion into new key markets.

What Our Clients Say

"Hodell-Natco did not approach us with a 'cookie-cutter' approach to doing business, but they assessed our needs and found ways to provide unique solutions. They even went so far as to build a machine to test and certify bolts to improve their on-time performance. Whenever Hodell-Natco says they will do something, they do it. Their people conduct themselves with high integrity. Many companies make promises, but Hodell-Natco stands behind their promises."
