The Hodell Chain Co. 1886
.
Two respected Cleveland-based firms – Hodell Chain and National Screw and Tack – both begun in the late 1800s, together formed The National Screw and Manufacturing Company. The company provided the foundation for an entity known today as Hodell-Natco Industries. Among other products, National Screw produced standard and specialty fasteners, while its affiliated company, Hodell Chain, manufactured welded and weldless chain for industrial and hardware use. In 1963, Monogram Industries, a Los Angeles-based conglomerate, acquired National Screw and Manufacturing as a subsidiary, establishing Natco Fasteners in 1976 as awarehousing division for distribution of standard fasteners. A year later, Natco purchased Southwest Bolt and Nut Company, of St. Louis, as part of a plan to expand the Natco division. Natco Fasteners subsequently became a full-line standard and specialty fasteners distributor.

In 1983, Monogram Industries sold the Hodell Chain unit to a Cleveland-based investment group, which continued operations of the chain manufacturer. The following year, Monogram was acquired by Nortek, Inc., a company that later sold the Natco Fasteners division to the same Cleveland investors who purchased Hodell.

Since both Hodell Chain and Natco Fasteners
were under common ownership, selling in many instances to the same markets, it made sense to bring the two companiestogether under the single name Hodell-Natco Industries, Inc.

Since it’s change in ownership, Hodell-Natco has made numerous acquisitions,
including: Bi-State Stainless Fasteners, North Ohio Bolt and Nut, Service Bolt and Nut Co., Metal Fasteners & Bolt Co. (including the Lok-Tooth division), Southwest Fasteners (Houston), Acton Stainless, and LMP Fastek (Milwaukee). Most recently, the company acquired the assets of Bonanza Nut & Bolt (Reno) and Western Chain Company (Chicago).

These acquisitions have expanded the Company’s market and diversified its product line. Most importantly, they’ve added considerable industry experience and talent to our dedicated team of professionals.
