QMS in Fastener Distribution: How Hodell-Natco Gets It Right
The cornerstone of any successful fastener distributor is an effective quality management system (QMS). Hodell-Natco’s QMS strives to improve its processes by monitoring a rigorous set of quality metrics. We do this not only to improve our own efficiency and credibility, but to continually exceed our customers’ expectations.
For example, one metric used to measure quality is “number of credits issued” to customers. In a perfect (yet unrealistic world), we would never need to issue a credit. However, in those rare instances when a customer calls to report a discrepancy, the discrepancy is immediately resolved, applicable credit is issued, and action steps are taken to prevent it from reoccurring. This is exactly how an effective QMS system should work. While Hodell-Natco’s “number of credits issued” metric is historically very small, we reduced the “number of credits issued” by 50% last year! Fewer discrepancies translate to happy, satisfied customers!
